These plates were used to catch the drippings from oil lamps to keep the lamps and surrounding area clean. They were made from around the middle of the 19th century. Since the plates were visible from the outside, they were made with appealing glazes and painted decoration.

These plates were thrown almost flat on the wheel, with perpendicular rims at the edges.
